Hello, we are well_lab

We exist to change the story on workplace wellbeing.

We help organisations to test and scale the right kind of change for sustained workplace wellbeing, because business thrives when people thrive.

During 2021 we worked with the transport team at Barts NHS Trust in Newham London to test strategies to improve their working lives, raise levels of wellbeing and prevent further burnout.

Burnout is an issue that historically stems from the healthcare sector, so we decided to take the bull by the horns by working directly with the NHS when they needed it the most - during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A huge thank you to the members of the drivers and operations teams at Barts Hospital for innovating with us and sharing their stories. Take four minutes to listen to them in our video below.

The Burnout problem

With one in five employees stating that they are ‘unable to manage the stress and pressure in the workplace’, it's no wonder that burnout is a primary reason for leaving a job.

The costs

Poor mental health caused by burnout is causing absenteeism, low engagement and resignations, and is costing organisations on average £1684 per employee, per year.

Low take-up rates

Investment into digital wellbeing initiatives is rising, but of all employers’ health-related investments, only 5.6% are actually being used by employees.

Businesses are doing their best but very little of what’s on offer in wellbeing programmes is backed by evidence or used by employees consistently. In short, you’re working hard to offer a lot but very little makes a lasting impact.

Leaders and HR managers, we hear you.

You value your colleagues and looking after the organisation's biggest asset is your number one priority. You know it's a no-brainer, business thrives when people thrive. You also know that there is no silver bullet – off the shelf mindfulness apps and ad-hoc benefits don’t bring lasting impact.

The right kind of change comes from tackling the root of the problem and reshaping the organisation to build a healthier working culture.

The well_lab way

At Well_Lab we work with you to identify areas of burnout then run “wellbeing labs” to test and develop bespoke strategies with employees directly so organisational change comes from within.

Tackling workplace burnout is hard, so our behavioural innovation experts are there to support the implementing process every step of the way.

This learning journey provides tailored solutions, trains burnout champions and ultimately enables your organisation to sustain long-term wellbeing beyond our programme.

Our Clients, Partners & Sister Projects

We’ve started a co-design of our wellbeing strategy and that’s where working with Well_Lab has been fantastic; they are reaching out to the more marginalised groups and finding out what matters, what’s important, and what can we do better.
